The Trust Fund

The Trust Fund established in 2005 as an initiative of the Commission to alleviate poverty among vulnerable groups in order to enhance its development role among rural agricultural communities by mobilizing and channeling resources to contribute to increasing the productivity of the rural agricultural community while supporting basic services for rural areas.

Why The Trust Fund?

  • To provide financing to the poor, especially women and small producers and pensioners, such as revolving funding for productive activity.
  • To provide assistance to poor small farmers by raising productivity by introducing appropriate technologies and providing inputs for plant and animal production.
  • To provide support for social services for health, education and drinking water in particular.
  • Capacity building and training for the Small and Middle Business sector.

The Fund’s Strategy:

  • Work through local community institutions and with the participation of beneficiaries throughout the project.
  • Implementation areas should be from remote or poor areas or from rural areas emerging from conflict or from promising areas with biodiversity.

Programs Executed by the Fund:

  • Small revolving loans to finance small farmers and producers, especially women in rural areas.
  • Pension support programs (pensioners) because of the privacy of this group and its limited income.
  • Program to support agricultural production in rainfed areas by providing funding to farmers’ communities such as seed financing and agricultural operations, including the dissemination of zero-till farming technology.
  • Support program for basic services and public utilities (education, health, water).
  • The Fund’s programs have varied to include: crop production, animal husbandry, simple trade and workshops for craftsmen, as well as training, technology transfer and capacity building programs for small producers.
  • The Fund’s activities covered many of the Sudan’s states; It included 30 projects that have delivered value to 1,705 families representing 8,525 beneficiaries.

Funding Sources:

The Fund depends on the contribution of AAAID and other stakeholders including (the Ministry of Finance, Saving and Social Development Bank, National Social Security Fund and Kenana Sugar Company), as well as donations from a number of other institutions.

Cooperation with institutions and banks:

  • In order to preserve the resources of the Fund and the good management of loans and guarantees, the Fund works on the participation of the financial institutions and the civil society departments (leaders, sheikhs and symbolic leaders).
  • Such participation is a guarantee for retrieving financing amounts in addition to increasing the resources of the Fund.
  • In this regard, the Fund signed two agreements with each From:
  1. Savings and Social Development Bank in June 2007.
  2. Union of Social Insurance in Sudan in January 2013.
  3. Signing an agreement with Al-Suqya Charitable Organization to manage the drilling unit of the Authority.
  4. Signing an agreement with Maarif Charity Organization for the establishment and implementation of ground concrete tanks to provide drinking water to humans and animals in areas of water scarcity.
