AAAID and EFC Plants Explore Strategic Investment Opportunities in Modern Agriculture in Egypt

Date: 19 Nov, 2025

Location: Cairo - Arab Republic of Egypt

As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen partnerships with leading agricultural companies and explore strategic investment opportunities, the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) visited the The Egyptian French Company for Plant Tissue Culture (EFC Plants) in Cairo. The delegation was led by Mr. Talal Wishah, Director of the Direct Investment Department, accompanied by a team from AAAID, for discussions with the company’s management on potential areas of collaboration in tissue culture and modern agricultural practices.
During the meeting, the company presented a detailed overview of its advanced projects and production plans, including state-of-the-art laboratories ensuring plant tissues are free from viral and bacterial diseases, as well as greenhouses to acclimate plantlets for transplantation. The company initially focused on producing potato seeds of the fifth generation and has since expanded to producing date palm plantlets—from tissue culture to fully grown plantlets ready for planting—demonstrating its commitment to modern agricultural practices and providing high-quality, sustainable agricultural products.
Discussions between the two parties focused on exploring future partnership opportunities, including integrated projects in modern agriculture, innovative sustainable production techniques, and initiatives to strengthen Arab food security.
This visit aligns with AAAID’s strategic approach to expanding investment partnerships with the private agricultural sector, highlighting the Authority’s pioneering role in developing modern agricultural projects in the Arab region and advancing sustainable food security initiatives that address future regional challenges.
