In the context of promoting and supporting shared goals that include promoting sustainable agricultural development, achieving food security, empowering agricultural communities, and facilitating investment and innovation in the agricultural sector, A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) and the World Agricultural Forum (WAF). It is an international organization committed to sustainable agriculture and rural development and aims to empower smallholder farmers and promote sustainable agricultural development through partnerships that transcend borders and sectors.
The memorandum was signed today, Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the headquarters of AAAID in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The memorandum was signed on behalf of AAAID by His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi. Chairman of the Board of AAAID, while it was signed on behalf of the WAF by Mrs. Ramona Angelescu Naqvi, Chief Operating Officer of WAF.
Under this memorandum, it was agreed to cooperate in several areas, most notably innovative agricultural investments, supporting and empowering farmers, and enhancing global cooperation in the field of agriculture. It was also agreed to facilitate public-private partnerships to support pioneering developments and sustainable agricultural practices, and to exchange knowledge and build capacity through the organization of joint workshops, conferences, and trade exhibitions. In addition to supporting the promotion and adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and solutions capable of adapting to climate change.
The Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) is an independent Arab financial institution that aims to develop agricultural resources in these countries. It contributes to the capital of 52 companies and projects, and its companies are spread across 12 Arab countries. AAAID’s existing companies and those under establishment enjoy many privileges thanks to the founding agreements signed between the Authority and the 21 member states.
AAAID’s investments are distributed across four main sectors: agricultural manufacturing, animal production, plant production, and agricultural services. AAAID also supports sustainable agricultural development plans in Arab countries with the aim of reducing the Arab food gap and improving the lives of residents in the communities that host its projects. Its companies support small farmers, transferring agricultural technologies to them, providing financing programs and many development activities, and disseminating the results of scientific research to disseminate knowledge for the benefit of community development.
