As part of its strategic efforts to enhance Arab food security and empower sustainable agricultural investment systems, the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) held a coordination meeting with the Agricultural Cooperative Association of the Eastern Region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting took place at AAAID’s head office.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Board of AAAID, and Mr. Abdulaziz Matar Ajab Al Baqmi, Chairman of the Cooperative Association’s Board of Directors. The two sides discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in several vital areas, foremost among them stimulating investment in productive cooperative projects with sustainable impact.
In this context, a proposed project to establish an integrated automated slaughterhouse in the Eastern Region was reviewed. The facility is expected to be among the largest modern establishments of its kind in the Kingdom. It will enhance the efficiency of the livestock supply chain, boost local production capabilities in accordance with the highest technical and health standards, and contribute to supporting food security and improving the quality of animal products.
Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi affirmed that AAAID is proceeding confidently to expand its strategic partnerships with stakeholders across various sectors related to food security. He noted that “Agricultural Cooperative Associations represent a fundamental pillar of the agricultural system,” adding that “AAAID is committed to leveraging its expertise, financing, and investments to support these institutions and enable them to perform their role with greater efficiency and impact.”
He further stated that the automated slaughterhouse project “epitomizes a pioneering model of integration between investment capital and local expertise, representing a qualitative leap in developing the Kingdom’s food infrastructure. This will enhance its readiness to meet local and regional market requirements.”
For his part, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Baqmi appreciated AAAID’s interest in supporting vital, economically viable projects. He described the anticipated partnership as one that “will open wide prospects for exchanging expertise and implementing qualitative projects that enhance the Eastern Region’s position as a pivotal hub for livestock production and distribution in the Kingdom, achieving sustainable economic and social added value.”
This meeting aligns with AAAID’s vision to support sustainable-impact agricultural and food projects. This is achieved through providing financing and technical expertise, as well as opening new horizons for creating smart partnerships and qualitative developmental initiatives that align with the aspirations of the Arab world and contribute to strengthening its food security.
