AAAID and UNIDO Explore Ways to Strengthen Cooperation and Advance Joint Initiatives

H.E. Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Board of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID), met with H.E. Dr. Hashim Hussein, Head of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) in Bahrain, and his accompanying delegation, to explore opportunities to strengthen cooperation and advance joint initiatives in the areas of investment, development and food security. The meeting was held at AAAID’s main office in Dubai.
The meeting provided an overview of AAAID’s areas of work and activities, as well as a number of its development and investment projects. The two sides also discussed opportunities to advance joint initiatives and translate them into implementable programmes and projects, with a view to enhancing their development and investment impact.
The two sides further discussed the potential conclusion of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an institutional framework for cooperation and support the development of joint areas of work, while leveraging the respective expertise and capabilities of both institutions.
H.E. Dr. Obaid Al Zaabi underscored the importance of strengthening cooperation with UNIDO, noting that partnerships with international institutions provide an important avenue for supporting sustainable investment and expanding initiatives related to food security and economic development.
Dr. Hashim Hussein, for his part, commended AAAID’s role in supporting development projects and promoting investment in the agricultural sector, stressing the importance of continued coordination between the two sides to develop practical initiatives that contribute to their shared objectives.
The meeting forms part of AAAID’s efforts to strengthen partnerships with international institutions and develop investment and development initiatives with sustainable impact, supporting Arab and international cooperation on food security and contributing to more resilient and sustainable food supply chains at both regional and international levels.
