Signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development and the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development

Believing in the importance of enhancing cooperation and combining efforts in common areas that serve the goals of each and benefit both parties, the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD). It is an organization established by the League of Arab States with the aim of developing and promoting agriculture in Arab countries, raising the efficiency of agricultural production, both plant and animal, and optimally utilizing fish resources.

The signing ceremony took place today, Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the headquarters of AAAID in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The memorandum was signed on behalf of AAAID by His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi. Chairman of the Board of AAAID, and on behalf of AOAD, His Excellency Professor Ibrahim Adam El Dukhiri, Director General of AOAD.

The memorandum aims to establish a general framework for cooperation between the two parties in areas that intersect with their goals and activities. Through this memorandum, the two parties also seek to cooperate in several areas, including establishing joint agricultural projects and improving the exchange of agricultural products between Arab countries. Preparing and evaluating feasibility studies for agricultural projects, in addition to financing small-scall farmers in Arab countries.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Obaid Saif Hamad Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, stressed the importance of the memorandum of understanding, saying: “We are pleased to sign this memorandum with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development. It represents an important step that reflects our strong commitment to strengthening Arab cooperation in the agricultural sector with the aim of achieving sustainable food security. This memorandum also enables the two parties to unify efforts and exchange expertise in areas aimed at improving agricultural productivity, enhancing efficiency and sustainability, and financing small-scall farmers in the sisterly Republic of Sudan. His Excellency added, “We are committed to working together to achieve our common goals, thereby consolidating sustainable agricultural development in Sudan and other Arab countries.”

For his part, Professor Ibrahim Adam El Dukhiri said: “This memorandum is an important step towards strengthening regional agricultural cooperation and will have a positive impact on farmers and the agricultural sector in the Republic of Sudan, as we see unlimited potential in the agricultural sector. Therefore, Cooperation with AAAID opens new horizons for investment in important agricultural projects, such as improving irrigation techniques, cultivating strategic crops, and developing human capacity in this sector.

The Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) is an independent Arab financial institution that aims to develop agricultural resources in these countries. It contributes to the capital of 52 companies and projects, and its companies are spread across 12 Arab countries. AAAID’s existing companies and those under establishment enjoy many privileges thanks to the founding agreements signed between the Authority and the 21 member states.

AAAID’s investments are distributed across four main sectors: agricultural manufacturing, animal production, plant production, and agricultural services. AAAID also supports sustainable agricultural development plans in Arab countries with the aim of reducing the Arab food gap and improving the lives of residents in the communities that host its projects. Its companies support small farmers, transferring agricultural technologies to them, providing financing programs and many development activities, and disseminating the results of scientific research to disseminate knowledge for the benefit of community development.
