The Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) participated in the sixth edition of the Global Vertical Farming Show 2025, held at the Festival Arena – Dubai. The event is recognized as one of the world’s premier gatherings that brings together the latest agricultural innovations and modern technologies, aiming to promote sustainability and increase agricultural production in urban and limited spaces.
During the opening session, which was attended by a select group of experts, investors, and agricultural technology pioneers, Mr. Talal Mohammed Akeil, Director of the Direct Investment Department at AAAID, presented a working paper titled “Smart Farming for a More Resilient Future” on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
Mr.Talal Akeil outlined the AAAID’s vision and strategic objectives, highlighting the distribution of its investments and contributions to the Arab agricultural sector, as well as its pivotal role in supporting efforts to achieve food security in the region. He emphasized that smart farming, particularly vertical farming, represents a promising solution to bridge the food gap in the Arab world, given limited resources and increasing food demand.
He noted that Arab countries possess significant agricultural potential; however, maximizing their benefits requires adopting advanced farming methods and more efficient production systems. He underscored the importance of moving towards the localization of smart farming technologies due to their impact on improving the efficiency of agricultural resource use, increasing productivity, and enhancing crop quality.
He also shed light on future trends in the sector, which increasingly rely on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, aiming to improve production and achieve long-term agricultural sustainability in the Arab world.
As part of its participation, AAAID set up a distinguished pavilion at the exhibition, showcasing its most prominent agricultural initiatives and projects in member states. The pavilion attracted a wide range of visitors and those interested in agricultural affairs, witnessing remarkable interaction and fruitful discussions with specialists and representatives from government and private entities. This reflects AAAID’s leading role in supporting sustainable agricultural development in the Arab world.
