AAAID and the State of North Kordofan Sign a Memorandum of Understanding Framework

Date: 25 Oct, 2016

AAAID continuously aims to strengthen cooperation ties with private, public sector and international organizations concerned with the reinforcement of food security. This is with the purpose of enhancing agricultural investments in the Republic of Sudan and reinforcing His Excellency the President’s Initiative. In this context, AAAID signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State of North Kordofan on 24/10/2016 in the Authority’s Headquarters in Khartoum. The agreement aims to explore the potential of joint investments and the establishment of red meat, grain, maize, fodder, plant and animal production and marketing projects among others. The MOU also focuses on the exchange of expertise and information and providing consultation and guidance on related investment projects. His Excellency Mohamed Bin Obaid Al-Mazrooei signed on behalf of AAAID while His Excellency Ahmed Haroon represented the State.

AAAID implements activities and contributes to the development of North Kordofan through the Trust fund, which was established in 2005 to reinforce its roles across various development fields in rural agricultural communities. This is achieved through the mobilization of resources and their allocation towards the increase of the segment’s productivity to alleviate poverty. The Trust Fund has placed focus on low-income segments in remote rural areas due to the scarcity of credit lines directed towards them and support of basic services. Further, the Fund aims to create an appropriate and incentivizing climate for rural residents by including diverse channels and mechanisms through development programs that target weak segments such as shepherds, small-scale farmers, rural women and pensioners.
