As part of AAAID’s keenness to start its investment activity in the State of Libya, and review future avenues of cooperation in projects that serve common interests, a visit was paid by H.E. Mr. Mohammed bin Obaid Al Mazrooei, President of AAAID, and an accompanying delegation to the State of Libya during 10-15 January, 2023. The visit included a number of important meetings and conferences with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Al Huwaij, Minister of Economy and Trade, and H.E. Dr. Jamal Al Nuwaisari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Investment Promotion and Privatization Affairs.
During the meetings, AAAID’s management extended its appreciation for the joining of Libya to the AAAID’s membership. A brief introduction was given about AAAID’s activities, its companies, and under establishment and implementation projects in most Arab countries, in addition to introducing the axes of AAAID’s initiative to cover the deficit in basic food commodities in the Arab world. The delegation also discussed investment opportunities in the agricultural field in Libya, and the establishment of agricultural investment projects to produce basic food commodities.
For his part, H.E. Mr. Al Huwaij emphasized the importance of such projects for their role in economic development and food security, referring to the investment map of the State of Libya that is supervised by the Ministry of Economy and Trade. He pointed out that the map encourages local and foreign investors to seek investment opportunities in Libya and establish projects within the realm of the State’s policies; thus, enabling the increase of diversified income sources.
Moreover, the meeting also addressed the establishing of investment projects specialized in basic agricultural products, especially in regions of South Libya, including the cultivation of wheat, olives, carob, fruit and palm trees. In addition to shedding the light on AAAID’s investment expertise in the fields of industrial agriculture, livestock and plant production, and agricultural services.
A visit was also conducted by AAAID’s delegation to the headquarters of the Golden Poultry Company in Libya, in order to meet with Dr. Mustafa Salim, Chairman of the Board of Directors, during which a brief introduction was given about AAAID’s activities in the Arab countries, and the delegation reviewed the company’s capabilities and its production capacities. In addition, a roadmap of AAAID’s contribution to the Golden Poultry Company was signed, besides the delegation’s discussion on employing AAAID’s contribution to the expansion program of the company’s activities in the field of one-day-old chicks production, and the establishing of broiler chicken sheds.
