Iraq…..A promising land for agricultural investment

With about 3,413 shares, Iraq is one of the contributing Member States of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development. Currently, AAAID is looking for the possibility of expanding its investments in Iraq, where it already contributes to the Arab Iraqi Milk Production Company. It is in this context that His Excellency Mohammed bin Obaid Al Mazrooei, President and Chairman of AAAID, accompanied by a delegation from AAAID, visited Iraq during the period of 13-15 March 2018, in order to participate in the opening of the Baghdad Agricultural Exhibition and meet with a number of officials.

Within the framework of the visit, H.E the President of AAAID and his accompanying delegation met with H.E Eng. Falah Hassan Zaidan Al Lahibi, Minister of Agriculture of Iraq, and H.E Dr. Maher Hammad Johan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance. During this meeting, H.E the President offered a comprehensive description of the Arab Authority and its activities in Arab countries as well as its investments in Iraq. For his part, the Minister of Agriculture said that Iraq is rich in agricultural resources, which AAAID can utilize to expand its investments through agricultural projects in the field of grain production, fodder, meat and dairy products, emphasizing his readiness for the state to provide land and facilitate investment procedures. Meanwhile, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance stated that the agricultural and industrial sectors are the most important in Iraq. He further stressed that the Ministry of Finance gives priority to investment in agriculture and food products as these sectors contribute significantly to the reduction of poverty. 

In conclusion, H.E Mohammed Al Mazrooei, President and Chairman of AAAID and his accompanying delegation went for a tour of the Baghdad Agricultural Exhibition, through which they learned of numerous governmental and private companies working in the field of date production, livestock breeding, agricultural mechanisms and fish farming companies.
